A hybrid business. A social enterprise. A creative community. A neighbourhood champion. These are the phrases used to describe Parcel 110, though we would venture to say there are so many other descriptions that can be added to capture all that this unique creative George Town hub does for artists and enthusiasts. On 25 May, members gathered in the Virtual Yard for Creative Connect – a meeting with Donovon Kellyman, Director of Parcel 110 – to learn more about the various opportunities available to creatives and the community at large at the 20,000 ft venue.
Parcel 110 is an ideal venue to execute solo or group projects in several spaces, develop self-confidence as an up-and-coming artist, participate in various workshops and programmes such as the weekly Words & Rhythm open mic session, be part of immersive Cayman Islands-themed ‘lock-in’ experiences, host events, create content for various platforms, relax and take in the view of George Town, and bring to life most anything one can imagine. A black box theatre is in the works and the door is always open to artist proposals; Parcel 110 is also working steadily towards its dream – establishing a non-profit organisation, the Parcel 110 Foundation, which will offer further support to artists who need space, supplies and other resources to realise their ambitions but find it economically challenging to do so.
Mr. Kellyman’s love for the arts, George Town, and Cayman Islands talent extends beyond the Islands’ shores, and opportunities exist for creative Caymanians to take up Parcel 110’s offer to promote them in an established network in various cities across the globe. This meeting was a wonderful introduction to the venue and the possibilities that exist for all creatives, and Cayman Connection is proud to promote this Caymanian business.
