We (Cayman Connection ) are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our members,  visitors to our web site and subscribers to our newsletter.

Here you will find the legally required information on how we treat the data that we collect. This policy (together with our terms of use and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. You probably won’t read this (does anyone?) but we offer you the opportunity to peruse the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

Visitors to Our Website

When someone visits our website we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log in information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. Information We May Collect From You

We may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our site  www.caymanconnection.org (“our site”). This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our site, registering as a Friend, Student or Alumni Member on our site. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our site or make an enquiry through our site.
  • If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
  • We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
  • We run competitions and events and will collect your name and email address so we can contact you with invitations and prizes.
  • Details of your visits to our site and the resources that you access.
  • Details of transactions you carry out through our site, including invoicing, collecting payment and of the fulfilment of your orders from the online shop.
  • When you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the website on the Cayman Products page, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.” Order Information is not directly handled by us, it is managed through secure PCI compliant gateways. Any credit card information is collected but not stored.
  • We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns and occasionally to provide targeted advertising to you based on your previous activity on our site).

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

Photography

We often take pictures of our events-in-progress to use on our Facebook page, website and in other promotional material. Whilst we do not require your permission or a model release form under UK law, we would prefer to do this with your approval and will assume that it is implicitly given when you attend our events unless you tell us otherwise.

We will not knowingly take or publish pictures of anyone under the age of 16 without permission from their parents.

Sensitive Personal Information

We don’t collect any sensitive personal information from you. Your gender, religion, abilities, sexuality and anything else that you deem none of our business, is quite rightly none of our business. However, if you are differently abled and you would like to have some alternative support in order to get a fulfilling experience from our events and communications, then please feel free to get in touch in advance so that we can do our best to offer this to you.

Disclosure of Your Information

We do not disclose your personal information to third parties except:

  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms and conditions of supply and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our business, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other Government organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and risk reduction.
  • We may be contacted by Cayman Islands Government Departments with opportunities for students in a certain field, in this case we will communicate with you about these opportunities.

Newsletter Sign Up

As part of the registration process for membership and our monthly newsletter, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about what is going on with Cayman Connections, all of which you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are correct and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We never rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. They are pretty good people.

You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing hello@caymanconnection.org

This privacy notice does not cover the links within this site linking to other websites. Those sites are not governed by this privacy policy, and if you have questions about how a site uses your information, you will need to check that site’s privacy statement.
