Sarah Murphy, Senior Advisor, Strategic Reforms Implementation Unit (CIG)
Sarah Murphy has spent the majority of her career working within law enforcement environment as a civilian. The early part of her career focused on resource and logistics management where she then moved on to set up and further manage a Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC). She directly supported victims of sexual abuse both within the criminal justice setting and on a self-referral basis where Sarah’s responsibility ensured gathering early evidence, safeguarding and outlining options for victims of recent and non-recent abuse.
Sarah’s career then moved onto the supervision of a ‘Protecting Vulnerable Persons’ department and she then joined a programme with the National Crime Agency (NCA) which involved building capability and sustainability in child safeguarding across the Caribbean British Overseas Territories. She has worked in the Caribbean OT’s delivering training to law enforcement officers ranging from first response to domestic and sexual assault awareness, managing risk / understanding child abuse and the implementation of improved forensic medical examination services for recent reports of sexual abuse.
Sarah was also directly involved with the launch of the Cayman Kids Line by the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC). In her most recent role, Sarah is a Senior Advisor in the Strategic Reforms Implementation Unit for the Cayman Islands Government (CIG). Supporting the Deputy Governor Office priorities, she works in a small team delivering Programmes such as the CIG response to COVID-19 and Child Safeguarding.
