What does Cayman Connection Asia do?
Cayman Connection Asia is a newly formed branch of Cayman Connection aimed at strengthening the Caymanian community in Asia. We support the organisation’s vision to connect the Caymanian diaspora to home whilst providing opportunities to improve their quality of life abroad.
Is Cayman Connection Asia just for students?
Caymanians from all walks of life are welcome to join us! As a branch of Cayman Connection, we aim to connect Caymanians abroad through a unique network and associated services and support. This can apply to current and prospective students, professionals living and working in Asia, as well as parents of Caymanians in Asia or those looking to spend time in the region.
Where in Asia is Cayman Connection based?
Cayman Connection Asia is currently based in Singapore, with a network of Caymanians across the East and South-East Asia region. We are always expanding our network and welcome those anywhere on the continent.

Is living in Singapore expensive?
Singapore’s cost of living is quite comparable to Cayman’s, while groceries and restaurant prices are quite similar, you will save on transport costs if you don’t use a car and depending on where in Singapore you choose to live. In addition, Hawker Centres (Food courts) can offer a wide range of local and regional food from around KYD $2.00 upwards.
How is the weather compared to Cayman?
The weather in Singapore will often feel very familiar. However, it is often more humid which may take some time to adjust to. Overall, the extensive tree coverage, covered walkways and air-conditioned malls provide some relief from the heat and sun.
Is it easy to manage if I only speak English?
Singapore’s four official languages are Malay, Chinese, Tamil and English, reflecting the island’s cultural diversity. While learning a few words in each of these languages will be appreciated, you can operate comfortably with English without any issues during your time in Singapore.
Can I use my Caymanian bank account or should I open a local one?
While Caymanian cards can be used in Singapore, many points of sale will only take digital payments linked to a local bank account or cash. We would recommend opening an account when moving to Singapore to make your experience smoother as the process is quick and user friendly.
Is it easy to travel in the region?
Singapore is an excellent base for travelling in Asia. With a world class airport and a wide range of destinations for different budgets, anyone with a desire to explore or relax will find something that suits them.
Where can I find Caribbean food?
While Caribbean food is not particularly prevalent in Singapore, Lime House restaurant provides a taste of home with a range of drinks and dishes spanning our many islands.
