Passin’ Tru
Cayman Connection Video Series
hosted by King Navassa & Friends
Connecting with the Cayman Islands diaspora and sharing our stories is at the heart of we do at Cayman Connection.
We invite you to enjoy Passin’ Tru – a video series hosted by King Navassa and friends, featuring Caymanian guests who are visiting a country outside of the Cayman Islands to pursue a noteworthy activity for work, school, sports, arts and culture or to represent the Cayman Islands in any capacity. These individuals do not normally reside overseas, but instead, are ‘passin’ tru’ for a brief time or project.
Passin’ Tru live video recordings are located on Cayman Connection’s YouTube page.
Parental discretion is advised as interviews may contain adult concepts.

Passin’ Tru: Part of Our Heritage
Graphic Art by Michael A. Mothen
Michael Mothen is a self-taught artist whose inspiration and artwork has its roots in animation, illustration and graphic design. Often tying the themes to music and songwriting, each piece inspires and respond to the last.
Mothen was born and raised in the Cayman Islands, which has inspired a life-long appreciation and love for the island’s heritage, history and culture. His work is characterized by a bold, humorous style with vivid colors and was featured in the National Gallery Cayman Islands exhibition Reimagined Futures – 2nd Cayman Islands Biennial (2021) where he won a certificate for the Emerging Artist.
Cayman Connection commissioned Mr. Mothen to create this inspirational look for the programme, highlighting Cayman’s seafaring heritage and our people’s unwavering spirit. Like our ancestors, we continue to seek out opportunities worldwide for personal, professional and community growth. We are proud to promote Michael’s brand of art which encourages access to Cayman of yesteryear with a contemporary treatment.
