Cayman Connection Onboards Five Global Student Ambassadors

In August 2023, Cayman Connection onboarded five new Regional Student Ambassadors (RSAs) who are currently studying outside of the Cayman Islands. The students, who are located in the USA, Canada, Asia and the UK, all have a keen interest in assisting other students overseas but also, representing the Cayman Islands in their respective locations.  This newest members of the team (above, l-r) include: Kayla Jeffers (UK), Eddie Weber (USA), Gabrielle “Gabbie” King (Canada), Julian Menko (Asia) and Celine Webster (UK).  Also pictured is our current Global Lead, Ayanda Jones.

Cayman Connection shared, “The work of a diaspora organisation requires many hands, so having Caymanian students working with us helps ensure our programming can be available consistently.  We are just in awe at their energy and dedication, and having them shape the future of Cayman Connection fills us with pride and hope that we will be here to serve many more generations to come.  We are looking forward to working closely with our five new ambassadors, guided by our current our Global Lead.  These are all exceptional people with a profound love for our country and the global community.”

All students signed up via the Cayman Connection website which provided details on what the role entailed.  Essentially, RSAs are valued volunteers who play an integral role to connect and support other Caymanian students in their area through various communication channels including social platforms, chats groups and in some instances, via email. RSAs also help to organise student-focused activities and events, in-person and virtual, and are supported by Lead Global Student Ambassadors (GSAs) who mentor and support them in their regional roles.

The role allows students to develop a range of skills and practical experience to help prepare them for the working world. Through their work with Cayman Connection, they also grow their professional and personal networks in the Cayman Islands and abroad.  Additionally, the role allows them to utilise their experience and knowledge as a student to help both current and prospective students to adapt and thrive overseas.
