A-Z’s of the Overseas Student Experience continues through summer with Lead Student Ambassadors, Ayanda Jones and Zoe Conolly Basdeo! If you are a Caymanian student with a CIG Scholarship or are planning to apply for one, you won’t want to miss this meeting on Tuesday, 8 August! This is your opportunity to meet the faces behind the Scholarship Secretariat.
Dr. Shari Smith, Manager at the Scholarship Secretariat will be available to discuss the details of the scholarship agreement and provide step-by-step advice on how to meet the criteria to obtain financial support as well as honour the agreement once you are a recipient. This includes information for all levels of study.
This 60-minute Virtual Yard Chat is open to new, existing and prospective students overseas, no matter what career path you plan to take. Scholarship recipients will also contribute to the discussions – register now!
Host Ayanda Jones
Ayanda Jones is a 2023 graduate of the University of Edinburgh, with an MA in International Relations and International Law.
While in university, Ayanda enjoyed running the Edinburgh Law Society for non-LLB students and volunteering for the British United World College national committee alongside her studies.
As Lead Student Ambassador (UK & EU), Ayanda is a point of contact for all Student Ambassadors as well as Caymanian students in her region.
Guest Dr. Shari Smith
Dr. Shari Smith is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 plus years in education and Senior Management with the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education, also serving as the Manager for the Scholarships Secretariat.
Dr. Smith is an advocate for Persons with Disabilities and Special Education Needs; is skilled in Crisis Intervention, Leadership, Management, Psychological Assessment, and Mindfulness Living, and is a strong community and social services professional with a passion for helping others become more mindful and empowered in all that they do.
Host Zoe Conolly Basdeo
Zoe Conolly Basdeo is completing her MSc in Organisational and Social Psychology at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
She is an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion representative for postgraduates in her Department, building upon her diverse professional and volunteer background across Cayman and the UK, and is passionate about wellbeing and mental health.
Zoe is a Lead Student Ambassador (UK & EU) residing in London, supporting Caymanian students as well as Student Ambassadors in her region.
