The special Virtual Yard Chat held Wednesday, 16 November at 7pm was the final event in the Cayman Day in the UK 2022 celebrations.

Cayman Day in the UK began on Friday, 11 November with a special London edition of Parcel110’s Words & Rhythm in partnership with Cayman Connection, followed by the big event – Cayman Day – on Saturday, 12 November, presented by the Cayman Islands Government Office in the UK.

The annual event also featured Cayman Connection’s Making Waves Awards ceremony for UK-based recipients, and added a new dimension to the festivities.

The Cayman Day event commenced at 12 midday, offering guests who entered before 2pm an opportunity to enter the grand prize draw for a Cayman Day gift hamper filled with Cayman Islands products worth over £200.

This year’s gift items included:

The winner of the Cayman Day gift hamper was announced at the special meeting on Wednesday:

Congratulations to Mr. Hoffman on winning this lovely prize put together with high quality products, Cayman Islands gifts from our generous vendors, Cayman Connection, CIGO-UK and the CIDOTUK.

Also revealed in the 30-minute meeting was the winner of this year’s Heavy Cake Competition. A video from adjudicators Dr. Mark Paramlall, Phillippa Knights, Elijah Esteban-Estevanovich and Dr. Tasha Ebanks Garcia announced the Best Heavy Cake Baker for 2022, Natasha Jervis, and thanked all bakers who participated: Demetra Mighty, Athena Robinson (2021 winner) and Nicole Wood.

We thank all participants in the competition, now in its second year, and extend a special congratulations to Natasha as well as to our guest judge, the Minister for Culture, the Honourable Bernie Bush. Gift bags for this year’s participants and winner included:
