Cayman Connection Virtual Yard Meeting

The Meaning Behind Cayman Thanksgiving

Wednesday 17th November – Zoom

Cayman Connection is delighted to welcome guest speaker, Mr. Samuel Rose, Cabinet Secretary, Cayman Islands Government, to the Virtual Yard on Wednesday, 17th November to share with us the meaning behind the beloved cultural heritage celebration, Cayman Thanksgiving.

Founded in 2010, Cayman Thanksgiving is held on the first weekend of December each year, which marks the end of the Atlantic hurricane season.

The national event offers the Caymanian diaspora as well as those with ties to the Cayman Islands, a wonderful opportunity to reflect and express gratitude, support local farmers, prepare traditional Caymanian meals, and unite with family, friends, and neighbours (in person and virtually). Demonstrating “Caymankindness” to anyone in need is also a essential focus of the three-day observance.

Mr. Samuel Rose
Cabinet Secretary, Cayman Islands Government

We invite you to watch this special gathering and learn more about how our maritime heritage links to the event and how to plan for the 2021 Cayman Thanksgiving weekend (3rd – 5th December), which we encourage all Caymanians overseas to take part in.
