Cayman Student Ambassadors were invited to a prestigious event hosted by the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) at the Houses of Parliament on 4 November 2014. The event was attended by Cayman Student Ambassadors Moya Williams, Amber Caum and Kimberly Carlos who joined members of the Cayman Islands Government, past Cayman Islands Governors, Representatives of the UKOTs and Members of Parliament at the event.
Amber, Caymanian student at the University of Westminster commented “I appreciate the opportunity given to attend the 20th Anniversary of UKOTA event. It was a great networking experience where I learned about the importance of cohesion between British Territories and met with some of the UKOTA members who all have very interesting backgrounds and gave great advice on achieving success.” Moya commented “being able to attend the UKOTA 20th anniversary celebration was a great experience. It was a great opportunity to be able to network with Representatives from the territories and private sector individuals with a vested interest in the territories. I also gained an understanding into issues faced by the territories and the effort being put into giving them a voice.”
Cayman Student Ambassadors are given the opportunity to attend high level events such as this as gratitude and appreciation to their time spent assisting the Cayman Connection UK network. These events give them the rare opportunity to access otherwise potentially unobtainable contacts.
