Nearly thirty students joined Mourant Ozannes for a successful evening of networking drinks and dinner at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in St James, London on Monday night. The event was the first of a series of networking events to be organised through Cayman Connection UK and hosted by Cayman private sector partners. The event provided a formal yet relaxed environment for chatting and learning more about Mourant Ozannes and the legal and fiduciary services sector in Cayman as a whole.
Robert Duggan, commented: “These events are important for a number of reasons: partly as a community relationship endeavour both to inform young people of the opportunities which they have and to ensure that our firm is connected to the youth of the Cayman Islands, and it’s also a very valuable opportunity for us to meet aspiring lawyers and others who might be keen to work at a modern offshore firm like ours.”
Students were unanimous in commenting that these events were invaluable in the career process. One student added “This has been a tremendous event and has given me the opportunity to meet Partners from a law firm in Cayman and to learn about aspects of the legal profession in Cayman that I hadn’t even considered. I’ve met a lot of Caymanian students I didn’t even realise were studying here in the UK and I would encourage Caymanian students to get involved in these events, you never know who you might meet and the professional connections you make can be invaluable.” An IPad Mini was offered as a door prize and won by Sean Anna Thompson of the University of Westminster.
