2024 Making Waves Award Winners Announced

George Town, Grand Cayman – August 9, 2024 – Cayman Connection is thrilled to announce the winners of the third annual Making Waves Awards, celebrating Caymanians making significant contributions worldwide. The awards ceremony was held on August 8, 2024, at The Cayman Collections Centre in West Bay.

Cayman Connection, a vibrant network fostering a sense of community among Caymanians living overseas, continues to build bridges between the Cayman Islands and the global diaspora through events, support and resource services, and initiatives that highlight the achievements of Caymanians worldwide.

“Through our awards program, we celebrate the diverse Caymanian community making waves globally. The ceremony brought together nominees, sponsors, and supporters to congratulate the deserving winners and highlight their remarkable contributions to their fields,” said Ashlea Akinwumi, Executive Director, Cayman Connection.

The winners were chosen after a public nomination period and a selection process by a panel of judges: Marzeta Bodden, Deputy Director, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism; Shomari Scott, Chief Business Officer, Health City; Sheree Ebanks, Chief Executive Officer, CIIPA; Winston Conolly, Managing Partner of Chancery ESG Ltd; and Dr. Tasha Ebanks Garcia, the Cayman Islands Government Representative to the UK.

The ceremony was attended by Hon. Andre Ebanks, Deputy Premier, Minister for Investment, Innovation and Social Development; Hon. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, Minister for Sustainability & Climate Resiliency; Hon. Isaac Rankine, Minister of Youth, Sports & Heritage; Parliamentary Secretary Bernie Bush, MP for North. Deputy Speaker Hon. Heather Bodden delivered remarks on behalf of Premier Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly.
