2021 Year in Review Post Event Update – A Night to Remember
The final Virtual Yard Meeting for 2021 – the Year in Review – was held on Wednesday, 29 December with members in attendance to reflect on Cayman Connection activities, share their wishes for the 2022 calendar as well as mingle and engage in light-hearted competitions.
Cayman Connection’s CEO & Director (UK & Europe) Kate Kandiah welcomed attendees, including Board Member Mrs. Jennifer Dilbert, MBE, engaging them in a discussion on quarterly themes, and the events and activities inspired by each. Archives for event promotions throughout 2021 were shared, a 12 month walk down memory lane of thriving despite the current pandemic circumstances.
Some of the highlights included Cayman Connection’s Fit for February initiative with members supporting members in their individual fitness goals online and in the CCFit Chat Group; Rundown in the Yard – live theatre via Zoom featuring actors from the longest running comedy revue in Cayman; CIGO-UK in the Yard – a Meet & Greet with Dr. Tasha Ebanks Garcia in her new role; Tourism in the Yard with the Department of Tourism UK office providing insight into their promotions for the Cayman Islands; the member led 5454 King Fundraiser with runners Kate Kandiah & Tyler Phillips running five times for five+ weeks; and the most talked about event of the year, the inaugural Cayman Day in the UK, to name a few.
To close out the evening, General Manager (UK & Europe) Rita Estevanovich offered up the Celebrating Caymanians OverseasPodcast Quiz – a multiple choice quiz game with questions taken from each of the five episodes of Cayman Connection’s podcast hosted by King Navassa. Guests on the show for 2021 included Sheilane Ricot, Antonio Arch, Jevaughnie Ebanks, Ashlea Jade Smith, and Jawara Alleyne. Attendees tested their knowledge and intuition in answering the questions about each guest, and the Gabriela Roberts nabbed first place, answering the tiebreaker in record time. She receives a Cayman Connection gift hamper filled with Cayman products from the online Shop worth £55. And finally, the draw for the Winter Survey prize of a £50 Amazon gift voucher was awarded to Jenny Palmer.
Cayman Connection thanks all of its members and supporters for growing the community that is Cayman Connection across the globe and wishes everyone a healthy and prosperous 2021.
