So I read (flicked through) my books – I put aside the green financing books for now, to focus on later and concentrated on plastics and chemicals in the home specifically.. have to start somewhere and I am thinking lazor focussed rather than trying to change everything in one go.

There is clearly a lot I can do to change my habits when it comes to cleaning, chemicals and plastics relating to cleaning so that is where I plan to start.

I have done an inventory of the plastic bottles and plastic cleaning paraphernalia I have around the house and it is utterly shocking. I have my stepdaughter Carla helping me with a full inventory of the house, including chemicals – but that will take more than a week.. so for now – just cleaning products. I have reviewed everything I use to clean. I have a cleaner who helps me, and she is very particular about what I should buy – she simply does not like the green stuff as she says it doesn’t work so well. Now, I would love to do all the cleaning in my house but I simply don’t have the time so I need her help (she is fabulous!) …so my challenge just expanded into persuading Iwona that this is the way to go and I WILL still be happy with her work…. that’s a task in itself! I look forward to reporting on her reactions!

I am sure we use too much cleaning STUFF – so I have researched all my options and have chosen a company called IRON & VELVET partly because they have a Coconut and Lime flavour – YUM – reminds me of home. Also because I like the name and am a TOTAL sucker for marketing and branding, I like the brand.. eco credentials and cleaning ability? Who knows, but it looks good, and as they are dissolvable sachets you can just pop them into a reusable pump bottle and away you go… we shall see – if it does work that would be an amazing result but I suspect I will have to find some other solutions as well.

There is so much more I need to do, but rather than try to do too much and fail, at this point I am going to concentrate on cleaning, using much less of the plastic and chemicals, and see how that goes… I will work with Iwona on this and let you know how it goes!
