UK Emergency services: Dial 999 In a life-threatening emergency

If you need urgent medical help but aren’t sure what to do, call NHS 111 for advice and support.

 

Below you will find brief information and useful resources for the Cayman Islands, England, Wales, Ireland, the United States, Canada, and Spain.

SUPPORT FOR CAYMANIANS ABROAD

If you are a Caymanian abroad, the Cayman Islands Government Office in the UK is available to support you. Please get in touch by emailing info.cigo@gov.ky or calling 0207 491 7772.

SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM AND WALES

For available support in the United Kingdom, you can call 111 through the NHS for urgent medical advice if you are unsure what to do, or dial 999 in an emergency. Additional emotional support is available through Samaritans online and Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), which supports people experiencing emotional distress.

The NHS offers free Talking Therapies with confidential support for common mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, including talking therapy, counselling, and guided self-help, and you can usually self-refer through your local service.

SUPPORT SERVICES FOR IRELAND

If you are in Ireland, the following resources may be helpful. Minding Your Head offers support and guidance, with links available for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

In an emergency, you can call 999 or 112 for immediate assistance.

SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

In the United States, mental health support services are available through a range of national organisations and crisis resources. General information and support can be accessed via Mental Health America. In the event of a mental health emergency, including thoughts of self-harm or suicide, it is advised to contact 911 immediately for urgent assistance. Further guidance on responding to a mental health crisis can be found through the National Alliance on Mental Illness. 

SUPPORT SERVICES FOR CANADA

In Canada, mental health support is available by calling or texting 9-8-8 for immediate assistance. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, it is important to call 911 without delay. Further information and additional mental health resources can be accessed through the Public Health Agency of Canada. 

SUPPORT SERVICES FOR SPAIN

In Spain, in an emergency or if someone is in immediate danger, you should call 112 for urgent assistance. For mental health and emotional support, the government also provides the 024 Suicide Prevention Helpline, a free and confidential 24/7 service offering support for people experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thoughts. Additional information and mental health resources can be found through the Spanish Ministry of Health.
