CC BOOK CLUB

MEETING + SPECIAL GUEST

Dr. Sarah Falcus
University of Huddersfield

Tuesday 2nd August | 7pm

Cayman Connection Book Club will meet on Tuesday, 2 August at 7pm for members to share on the latest read on the booklist: “The Midnight Robber” by Nalo Hopkinson.  A special guest will also be in attendance – Dr. Sarah Falcus from the University of Huddersfield, a PhD supervisor for Book Club Lead Antonio Arch.  Here’s what she had to say about this fascinating book:

“Hopkinson describes science fiction as a subversive literature and her work is a great example of that subversion in action. The novel is an innovative and exciting blend of fantasy, myth, science fiction, and Caribbean history. Tan Tan’s story is a disturbing, sometimes carnivalesque, feminist Bildungsroman for our contemporary world.”

For the Club’s launch in April 2022, Cayman Connection invited Mr. J.A. Roy Bodden to the Virtual Yard to share excerpts from his soon-to-be published “Trouble in the Streets” and “The Defilement of Misamaba and Other Stories”, and since then, Book Club has had the pleasure of reading and dissecting “Small Island” by Andrea Levy and most recently, “The White Woman on the Green Bicycle” by Monique Roffey.
