The second Virtual Yard Meeting of 2022, Mental Health: Let’s Talk on Wednesday, 26 January, welcomed Cayman Connection members to engage with Dr. Shari Smith of Life Options, Chef ‘Mo’ Cubbon of Zest and the Alex Panton Foundation’s Sarah Pierson, along with Kate Kandiah, Equine Specialist serving as host for this interactive event.

Each guest presented the work of their respective organisations and provided valuable information ranging from how to access assistance from Cayman professionals for mental health issues while living overseas, to ways and tips on how to improve mental health free of cost and with minimal effort, to the importance of good nutrition and compassion towards self.  Connection was one of the themes of the talk which highlighted human beings’ need for interaction and this being the key to dramatically improving overall health and wellness.

“Thank you again for the opportunity to present to your members on mental health wellness. Especially to partner with the awesome Chef Maureen and of course Sarah of the Alex Panton Foundation…..I look forward to continuing to partner with Cayman Connection on other projects in 2022 as Life Options expands its services to the community.”

“Thank you. I’m really excited about the work that APF and Cayman Connection will be able to do moving forward. So it’s important for our young people overseas to feel supported and have that link back to home, so thank you for all that you guys do. “

A combination of slide shows, fun physical activity and audience polls to gauge people’s current state and what they understood about mental health were also features of the event which lasted just under 90 minutes.  A question and answer session closed out the informative session which saw over 20 persons in attendance.
